SkyWork Airlines: Positive result in the first third of the year

SkyWork Airlines can look back on the start of 2012 with four successful opening months. In the first third of the year, the fledgling airline carried over 45,000 passengers on around 2,500 flights. This summer, the up-and-coming enterprise is offering a total of 25 European destinations from Berne.

The Berne-based carrier continues to report strongly growing passenger numbers: in the months from January to April 2012, 45,054 passengers travelled with SkyWork Airlines, an almost four-fold increase over the corresponding period last year. Especially popular destinations are London with 9,607 passengers followed by Berlin with 7,313 and Hamburg with 6,693. Bookings during this period are also progressing at a highly satisfactory level: by the end of April, 70,043 persons had already made a booking with SkyWork Airlines. With 25 destinations in the summer flight plan, scheduled flights now account for around 90 percent of the overall Berne programme. Reliability and punctuality are also grounds for satisfaction: 98 per cent of flights were processed according to plan and 80 per cent of all connections departed on time.
At SkyWork Airlines, “on time” is taken to mean with less than a 3-minute delay.

Since the beginning of the year, the SkyWork team has also grown with the addition of seven new staff members. SkyWork Airlines now employs a total of 171 people.

SkyWork Airlines CEO Tomislav Lang is satisfied with the result: “The figures reinforce our determination to continue on the path we have taken.” He went on to say: “We are striving for a break-even result in 2013. If the people of Berne remain as loyal and the airport continues to offer attractive basic conditions, we will be able to achieve the ambitious target”.

Flights to numerous holiday destinations commenced at the beginning of May: Cagliari, Catania, Menorca, Palma de Mallorca, Olbia, Preveza, Rijeka and Split. The Nice route will follow in mid-May, with three direct flights a week. Elba and Figari will be available to SkyWork customers from the end of May.

The 25 destinations flown to from Berne by SkyWork Airlines are: Amsterdam, Barcelona, Belgrade, Berlin Schönefeld, Budapest, Cagliari, Catania, Elba, Figari, Hamburg, Ibiza, Cologne-Bonn, London City, Madrid, Palma de Mallorca, Menorca, Nice, Olbia, Preveza, Reus, Rijeka, Rome, Split, Thessaloniki, Vienna.
