In the year gone by, the Bern carrier SkyWork Airlines conveyed a total of 87,645 passengers. In other words, already as many as half of the passengers departing from Bern-Belp last year chose the up-and-coming enterprise.
After celebrating its first anniversary last October, SkyWork Airlines is delighted by the strongly growing passenger numbers: the Bern airline conveyed 87,645 passengers in the year gone by, more than twice the number in 2010. This is primarily attributable to the expansion of the route network. SkyWork is offering 11 destinations in the current winter flight schedule, with the number set to increase to as many as 25 in the coming summer.
The aircraft fleet has been significantly expanded in the year gone by, from two to six aircraft. The workforce also doubled in size; SkyWork currently employs a total of 147 staff. Further jobs will be added in the new year.
Capacity utilisation averaged out at around 50%. Particularly successful destinations are London City with seat occupancies of around 77% and Belgrade of around 76%.
In total, SkyWork Airlines enjoyed a passenger share of 47.4% at Bern Airport, although the proportion of total flight movements is relatively small at 6.6%.
SkyWork Airlines CEO Tomislav Lang looks back with satisfaction on the year gone by: “SkyWork Airlines has established itself in Bern as a reliable partner for business and holiday travel. The figures strengthen our conviction that we are on the right course.” He went on to say: “We are aiming for a break-even result in 2013. If the people of Berne remain as loyal and the airport continues to offer attractive basic conditions, we can achieve the ambitious target”.
